It is often associated with the much older Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), a British fraternal society founded in 1822.

  • Mission: Operates as a pathway to mentorship and impactful community service, focusing on building a foundation for a lifetime of charity.
  • Progression: Members are encouraged to work toward the rank of Primo by their 21st birthday, a title traditionally used in the senior RAOB.
  • Relationship to RAOB: While the ROWB specifically uses the “White Buffalo” moniker, it draws its structure and terminology from the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (known as the “Buffs”), which is one of the largest fraternal movements in the UK and Commonwealth.

General Joining Requirements

  • Age and Gender: Traditionally, membership is open to males who are 12 to 19 years of age 
  • Loyalty: Applicants must declare they are “true and loyal supporters of the Constitution” of the country in which the lodge operates.
  • Character: The order emphasizes integrity, charity, and community service. Discussion of politics or religion is strictly forbidden during meetings to maintain harmony.
